Has anyone, especially those of you with kids who have scoliosis and/or a
trach, witnessed your child's chest doing "the wave"? A rippling or rolling
across the chest as if one lung was working just a couple seconds or so
ahead of the other???? I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has
anything info on this type of thing.
Hannah was doing that yesterday and is running a fever. We had several
appointments yesterday and several times her heart rate would climb into the
150's for seemingly no reason and her O2 sat would drop some. Donn talked to
the pulmo last night and they said it sounded like a mucus plug and called
in an antibiotic and steroid. I scrambled all over town to get it (just
before 9 pm and looking for something that no one seemed to have in stock!)
Although she is running a fever (it was 99.9 but she runs low so that is
equivalent to 100.9) she is stable and the fever is responding to Motrin. We
talked to the docs office again a bit ago and have all decided that we will
wait and give the antibiotic and steroid a bit to work and if she gets worse
tonight we will go to the ER. If she is still the same in the am we will
call them back and get her in there to be seen. We just called the nursing
agency as we realized that there was no one scheduled for night shift
tonight but they thought the shift had been picked up and verified that for
us. They also gave the nurse a brief heads up on what was going on.
