[tri-med] Re: Question

Holly,

We have been working with Sierra to get her to drink out of a straw, but
she has been having a lot of trouble with it.  She has just recently
started putting her mouth around the spout on the sippy cup to get the
liquid out.  Before she would just hold her mouth open.  Do you have any
tips for the straw?

Nicole,
Morgan never really did take a bottle.  He was g-tube fed only until he
was
6 mos. old and then he started on a sippy cup.  He took to it right
away. 
He always did best with the type that had no valve and only 1 hole in
the
lid for the milk to come out of.  It was never a problem for him to get
too
much liquid in his mouth, he didn't choke.  He would either swallow it
or
it would run back out of his mouth.  Those cups with the valves were too
hard for him to get anything out of if the valve was in.  He can drink
out
of an open cup and with a short straw now.
