[tri-med] Re: Quad screen results positive

Oh my gosh - I HATE HATE HATE that test! That test is NOT diagnostic by any
means. It is only a screening test! The vast majority of the time the
positive tests end up resulting in a perfectly healthy baby. I really wish
they would stop that test. I have read so stories from women who are
FREAKING about their positive result. And it is usually for nothing at all.

I had a positive quad screen with my first baby. I was 34 and my chances of
downs increased to 1 in 30 after that test. I was freaked out. We had the
level 2 u/s and found nothing. We didn't have an amnio and we now have a
perfectly healthy little girl.

I refused that test for my last pregnancy with Caroline. We just had the
level 2 and then an amnio (which I definitely wish I didn't have). With
this baby, I absolutely will not have the quad screen and I even question
having an ultrasound. I know I won't have an amnio.

Please do not worry! I am sure your baby is fine!!! If you do research on
the quad screen, you will find out this test is very often wrong.

Take care,
Irene
