[tri-med] Pseudomonas (sp?)

Has anyone ever heard of pseudomonas? From what I can gather, it is a
bacterial infection that usually occurs in people with cystic fibrosis or
others with weaker-than-normal immune systems. I think I also read that it
happens to people who have catheters. It seems that most everything I can find
on it is written in such clinincal terms, that it might as well be in French
because I can't understand it.

I ask because Rylie got sick about a 6 or 8 weeks ago, and they let her go for
about two weeks thinking it was "just a cold" and wanted to give her a chance
to fight it on her own. She didn't, and he started her of Ceftin. She took
that for 10 days, and was just as bad as she was before. He then did a culture
of the stuff in her nose, and it came back pseudomonas. He put her on Cipro
and that seemed to clear it up. Then, two weeks ago, she started the same
thing again. Same scenario, they gave her a chance to fight it off, she
didn't, so here we are again, back on antibiotics. Her poor stuffy nose got so
bad at one point, I almost got brave enough to try Jude's snot shooting
technique that she suggested to Michelle a while back, but chickened out.

I wonder if it is the same thing she had before, but they didn't do a culture
this time. Someone told me that once someone got pseudomonas, that they would
always have the bacteria. Anyone know if this is true or had any experience
with this?

Thanks
