That is so true, just watching parents with their new baby's at work and
listening to their comments, they expect a perfect baby most of them cant
even imagine that they will have a "high needs" normal child let alone a
disabled child.  I sit on a committee for the local treatment centre, and by
the number's of admission assessments a year that would be approx 1/4 of all
the births at the hospital I work in  ( now all these admission assessments
are not all born at my hospital) so that's a big percentage of the
population that is not quote perfect..........I don't think you can ever
educate people on a subject that they just don't want to know about until it
effects them.  For example, a friend of mine whose kids are younger then
mine once said to me that if her son had ADHD she would just die...........(
kid had issues even then) now of course it does not surprise me that he is
now identified with ADHD and LD, she wouldn't even see it when he was
younger..........took the school speaking out and saying the kid has issues.
