[tri-med] Re: Pneumonia

Hi Moe and Rana :o)
My good friends (the Ballard/Harrelson family in CO) have a little boy with
t13 (Colton)...he just turned 2 yrs old in March. He had a trach done when
he was under a year old (I think he must have been 3-4 months old (because
it was Devon's birthday and I got a call that he was not expected to make
it...the decision to have the trach came very soon after)...without it he
would have died. He's done beautifully with it and now that he's getting
older, he takes it out daily and is quite proud of himself. His mama has
gotten very good at replacing it (better than his nurses) and it's not even
a big deal to them anymore. He can be off his vent for hour or so at a time
and if his heart is fixed his pulmonologist says he wouldn't even need the
trach :o) But it hasn't slowed him down at all :o) AND not all kids with
trachs need a vent...but Colton does.
