And therein lies the problem.  For a diabetic diet, there's no such thing as
'good carbs'.  All carbs break down directly into sugar, and are considered
a no-no.  Brown rice & whole grains just takes a little longer, then white
rice & Wonder bread does.  So this is why I ignored that part of his
instructions, since her blood sugar wasn't bad enough to require meds, and
her weight was already bad enough to be a real concern on a totally low carb
diet.
