And even genetics I am sure. I was researching my family tree and we always
knew that my grandmothers family was "odd", but we didn't realise how odd
until we did the research.
It seems that every female in the family and some of the males, suffered
from depression to some degree. What we didn't realise was that it went so
far back.

My great grandmother was sent to the Kew Assylum for long stretches in the
late 1800's. Her admissions state that she had "recurring severe melancholy"
and we can only imagine the treatment that she got...... Putting a modern
day analysis of the records it would appear that she suffered from manic
depression, or even just severe depression which we know is hereditary. Even
her admission records state that her mother suffered from this as well.

Thats probably why my fathers family is prone to suffering from depression.
It also probably accounts for some of the bizarre behaviour in her
daughters, and when I say bizarre I mean bizarre. BTW She got out only
because the family had money (they were stevedors to Geelong and Bendigo
during the gold rush).
