I think everyone is in a slightly different situation
in regards to place a peg or not. Surgeries always
scare me no matter how minor, as well as the risk of
infection. Marissa also, with her low muscle tone
moves her body funny - we pierced her ears twice only
to have the earrings come out the very next day!! So,
I have avoided a gtube. At 9 she still drinks a bottle
and our goal is 40oz a day. Sometimes it's a pain esp
since her sister was born she quit holding her bottle
herself again. But she has managed to stay just on
the bottom of the growth chart or just below it. Her
dr says as long as she follows it he's happy. She
hasn't gained much weight in the last few years but
she's hanging in there. We add carnatin instant
breakfast as well as a carbohydrate powder to
pedisure. We also go through episodes where for about
6mths a year we use Periactin (which as passed over
the list many a time and where I first learned of it).
It is an antihistamine and increases the appatite.
