We don't have any other thing we would need to tape to him (thankfully), but I
wouldn't be suprised if J has some kind of latex sensitivity/allergy. He's
allergic to wheat and soy and anaphalactic for milk and peanuts. Finding foods
for him has been very challenging, although the allergy clinic is trying to
re-introduce wheat and soy into his diet without much success.

I have always used idiot loops, and have tried to describe them many times
on the list. They really, really are invaluable for any cord where there is
pressure. I still use idiot loops on Alex's pulse oximeter and cardiac
leads.
Just beware that red marks from tape can be the first signs of a latex
allergy. It's all Alex had at first but it progressed rapidly and he is now
anaphylactic. Latex allergy, unfortunately, is way more prevelant in kids
with special needs. Regardless to if you need to tape to sensitive skin then
consider using coloplast or duoderm under the tape. It's the same stuff that
they use when they need to tape oxygen prongs etc to a baby's face. The
coloplast itself is very gentle to the skin and you simply place the tape
over the top.
