I want to encourage you by sharing with you my special gift. Last week my
son, Caleb, went to Heaven after 48 days with us. He was an absolute joy and I
feel blessed to have known him. Although the road was rough after being
diagnosed, things got easier and he was a true blessing to our family.
In the next few months I would ask you to take the time to research docs in
your area and their experience with T13. I have a neighbor who works in a NICU
where they aggressively treat our babies. I had to fight for what I got for
Caleb. Be sure to go to the livingwithtrisomy13.org website to find a lot of
resources. The nurse midwife, Bess, was a huge help to me. I would also advise
you to find one of the photographers who will take photos in the NICU. They are
a real treasure to me now. All of this is on that website.
As far as you in-laws, I know what you mean. My family was very supportive,
but my husband's was not. What they are forgetting is that despite the
diagnosis, your baby is a baby. I have all kinds of pics with my other 2 kids
holding
Caleb and loving him. It was a great opportunity for them to experience God's
love. Although Caleb just passed last week, they already talk so proudly of
him.
I'd love to share many stories with you if that would encourage you. Please
feel free to email me. I've done a lot of research and have great contacts all
over.
