Samantha,
My son, Morgan, is 9 yrs. old now. We, too, knew about his trisomy prenatally.
Although we didn't feel like it at the time, compared to what some parents go
thru, our perinatalogist and o.b. were supportive of our decision to carry to
term and told us quite honestly they did not know what to expect after Morgan
was born.
Morgan seemed quite active in the womb. I have no other children so I don't
have anything to compare it with, but I seemed to feel kicks and punches for
hours on end. But, I didn't feel any activity until after 21 wks.
We chose aggressive care for Morgan after he was born. He did not have any of
the issues you mentioned your baby has, but he did have esophageal atresia and
t.e. fistula. When it became apparent to the drs. that Morgan was going to
survive for longer than a week they offered to do surgery to repair these
issues. He did fine with the surgery and also had surgery for inguinal hernia
at about 10 wks. of age. We have parents on the list that will tell you their
stories of drs. that refused to do surgery on their child with t18. But that
is not all drs. I hope you are able to find a dr. that will do what you want
for your baby. Good luck!
