[tri-med] Nicholas - my china doll

Well, we just got out of the hospital again! Nicholas woke up Monday morning
crying and when I went to change his diaper, his left knee was swollen. I
called Mark at work and we took him to the ER. He has a left femur fracture
and a right tibia fracture. All along his pain that week while we were in the
hospital was a right femur and tibia fracture. The doctor said on the right
leg it was at least a two week old break and the one on the left femur is a
fresh break. Five doctors couldn't figure out he had leg fractures when we
were there last! UGH! The bone scan didn't show it either. Well, now he is
in a double cast on both legs from the thigh to the tips of his cute little
toes with two bars across it. They have referred us to an endocrinologist to
see if he is absorbing his nutrients and vitamins in the right way. He ordered
blood work before we left the hospital and said that he shouldn't be getting
any testosterone shots until age 13. His urologist had suggested it as maybe a
way to help his bones. They also want us to see a geneticist to see if he has
any answers. They did notice on the x-rays that he doesn't have enough bone
density, so he is scheduled for a bone density scan in two weeks. He will be
in this cast for 3 weeks and then change to a lighter cast (stabilizer) because
ortho doesn't want the cast to break any more bones.

Them danged ol' hills'll get you every time
Yeah, the good Lord gave us mountains,
So we could learn how to climb
