Alex had bilateral inguinal hernias and hydroceles that strangulated and
were repaired at 3 or 4 weeks of age. We haven't had a problem and he has
had abdominal surgery since. At the time the surgeon told us that hernias
and hydroceles were a very common problem in boys and especially pre-term
boys. I know Alex's dad had hydroceles that were eventually repaired when he
was three.
