[tri-med] Re: New Family

Hi, my son is t8 mosiac and nearly 4 years old. He was born 3 months prem and
he had horrendous reflux. He was put on a drug to aid faster digestion, antacid
medicine and fluid thickener. I kept him upright during all feeds and for about
1 hour after. he very rarely was laid flat and by the time it was safe to lie
him down it was time a feed again. Life for about 18 months was one long feed,
the doctors did talk about a fundoplication and mickey because he did have a
few bouts of pneumonia.
The good news behind all this info is that we got through it and he now eats
well (food is still mushed up) and his favorite food is curry chicken korma.
Although, he still gains weight very slowly and is still a little man, but i
think this is a general trisomy thing.
My problem at the moment is that he hasn't been well for a few months with
colds, chest infections and vomiting bugs and he has lost what little weight
he has and is now skin and bones (even more than usual). Its so upsetting to
see him when he gets like this, he is so thin and pale and the doctors are
thinking of taking him into hospital if he gets any worse. I have recently had
a baby and she gains weight so easily and at 4 months will soon be overtaking
my son in weight., its just not fair.
Besides full fat everything and duocal does anyone have any suggestions.

katy. son t8 mosaic.

hi and welcome, my name is sharon and i have a son Jason, 9 months old with
trisomy 17p . i have only given him formula, but my daughter, Lauren was
exclusively breast fed until she was 6 months old, she is a "typically
developing" child and had no GI issues. The only time she was fussy was when
for 2 days
straight i was devouring chicken that i had made with a consomme powder that
i did not know contained MSG.

When Jason was 2 months old, that is when his reflux started and when he
started to really throw up because of it. Maybe the reflux is getting worse,
or
the meds need to be adjusted.

Also, sometimes after they get their shots they are fussy for a few days.

Good Luck !
Sharon

Hello All,
I am new to the list and will introduce myself more fully when I have a
minute.

I am the mom to a 2 month old with Trisomy13. She got her 2 month shots on
Wednesday. For the past few days she has been very gasey and fussy. She
generally calms when you hold her, but she is not her usual content self.
She is exclusively getting breast milk through ng/bottle/breast. It seems
that she frequently has gi issues. We are giving her mylecon drops every 4
hours and she is on prilosec for reflux. Can anyone tell me if they went
through something similar. Do you have any suggestions to help her gas? She
did
throw up once last night and once today. both times it was after my husband
fed her. Could it be my diet? Any suggestions on what I should eliminate?

Thanks so much for any advice.
