Neuro Psych Testing:

1. What are the benefits of this testing?

2. What does it show and how does it help your child?

3. Did your school district pay for the testing?

I don't know for sure but I think this is what Jenny just had. There is a
part-time psychologist at their school (I thought she was 'just' a school
counsellor) and she tested Jen the other week and found out that Jen does
actually have a measurable learning problem. She has high distractibility
which I am so glad we know about now because we can specifically target this
area and now we know that she is not just lazy sometimes she just lacks
concentration or the ability to process her thoughts. We had interviews
with the psychologist the executive teacher and her Year advisor yesterday
and we feel like she is doing a little better this year if we can just get
her through till November and the exams we'll be doing ok. THEN... we can
all sit down and decide what happens next.

I think knowing this information will help us to help Jen, there was also a
lot of stuff in there that we already knew (like that she has a great verbal
vocabulary and communicates way better verbally than on paper.... well
duh!!!)but as I said knowing this other stuff will help us to help her to
focus and study better.

We didn't have to pay for this service but we do pay $1880.00 per term for
schooling for the kids there so I guess we do pay for it.
