Thanks everyone!!!
We went with an Australian flag bandana over the alice band to school this
morning. Brilliant idea!!! My endeavours to find something else by letting
my fingers do the walking have been frustrating to say the least.

A skull cap here is made of fibreglass.
Dew caps or head wraps do exist - from Harley Davidson stores - but of
course no-one has any. Best I could do was a leather one and apart from
being very expensive would be too hot.
No-one has any head sweat bands in stock.
LouAnn - no one has even heard of those beanie caps here!!! I can get
woollen beanies - but again they are a bit on the hot side given that its
summer time here still.
Even bandanas are scarce - I can get can-teen ones, but people are going to
think hes going through chemo I am sure.
Rugby players here use either sports tape (self adhesive tape) over cotton
wool or just a regular 1/2 inch flexible adhesive tape - sticks is not on
because we still have stitches.

So it looks like I am going to have to borrow a sewing machine and make some
bandanas and sew on some footy logos or something. I thought I might take
some plain ones down to the footy club and see if I can get some players to
sign them or something....... The footy shop said that they were going to
come out with some football bandanas - but of course he didn't know when.

If anyone knows of an express way of getting something similar posted from
the US let me know. Most internet companies don't do international
deliveries. Any Aussies know which footy players regularly tape their ears??
I thought maybe approaching them they may sign a bandana or something??
