[tri-med] Re: Nasonex?

Karen's explanation of how the Nasonex works was terrific. It is not a
decongestant but seems to reduce the irritation and sense of pressure of
Becky's sinuses and nasal passages. If she is very congested (too congested
for example to comfortably use the CPAP) I use the nasal irrigation first,
which definitely cleans out the passages. She always manages to inhale when
I am not expecting her to and then she coughs, gags etc. It also makes Becky
really mad and I find my limbs quite handy, so rather than the twice weekly,
whether she needs it or not, that the ENT would prefer, I do it only as a
last resort. Since we have been using the Nasonex I think I have only 'had
to' resort to the nasal irrigation twice. The script is from the
respirologist not the ENT who was/is horrified that we are using it. Ah,
well. We have to choose our battles sometimes.
The product leaflet that comes with the Nasonex says that it is for ages 3
and up. I wonder if that is because of the difficulty administering it or
whether the dosing is the problem?

Thanks Catherine! Hmmm, administration will be a little tricky...Keren
will probably fight like a banshee! Can you tell me what you know
about exactly how it works? The doc's explanation was so quick (you
know how it is!) and I didn't know what to ask. Is it actually a
decongestant?
