[tri-med] Re: Moe: RE: Fwd: Neocate Formula

Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for us with J's Neocate and then Elecare.
We were told by our insurance that our state did not mandate that "groceries"
be paid for unless the child was tube fed. We had letters written from the GI
Dr. and Allergist. We got Katie Beckett and WIC and even then, they wouldn't
give us the full amount we needed per month. J now has a g-tube so WIC gives
us 9 cans of Elecare a month and VNA (through insurance) gives us the rest.
It's been a loooong battle!

WIC will also supply
special formula's with a doctor's prescription.

If a doctor prescribes the formula I believe insurance must pay for it. I
was told this when Birgitta was adopted. She needed a special formula due to
allergies and while she was our foster daughter the state paid for it through
WIC. I did not need it afterwards but I was told ,by law, the insurance
company would have had to cover it if the doc ordered it.
