In PA, we automatically qualified for WIC based on Caroline's diagnosis, no
matter what out income (we are over the limit). WIC will also supply
special formula's with a doctor's prescription. I am pretty sure I have
seen Neocate on their list.
I had no idea we could get WIC until Caroline was over a year. A dietician
told me, but no doctor, therapist, etc ever mentioned it! Luckily, I was
pumping breastmilk, so I didn't need formula, but when I did, I was
definitely excited that I didn't have to pay for it!
Our insurance now pays for Caroline's formula and they did once she was on
Pediasure (at about 18 mo). I am not sure if they would have payed for it
since the g-tube, since almost all babies are on formula or breastmilk at 4
months anyway. I am guessing they would have started paying for it at
about a year, when most typical kids are off formula and on normal foods.
Good luck!
