[tri-med] Re: Missing baby tooth

Hi Debbie!
Thanks for sending me this note off-list as well--I've been such a
lurker these days that sometimes I miss great streams of notes....

Keren is in the same place as Irene's Caroline. First tooth fell out
at 4 1/2 and two have since. When the first one fell out, I called
her pediatric dentist because it just seemed way too early! His
office said, "Yeah, better come have it checked. She's pretty young."
Well, we went in, and they ended up pulling the two teeth to either
side of the lost one because they were loose, too, and the concern
was her swallowing them. The dentist's thought then was that Keren
had traumatized the area in some way, and that's why they'd come out.
"You probably won't see new ones for a year."

Ha! One month later, what should show up but a new tooth! The funny
thing is, she's only gotten a replacement tooth for each of the three
that fell out on there own (and had no root left). No teeth have come
in for the two that were pulled (and those two still had roots). When
I saw the dentist again this spring he wasn't phased a bit, which is
good because I'm not bothered by it any more :) . My only concern is
that her mouth is so tiny, and the new teeth coming in are so big!
Fortunately they have enough room at the moment because of the two
extra teeth that were removed.

So that's my story!

The only other question would be, "Do you stick a triers tooth under
his or her pillow?" I'm sure you can come up with a great
celebration! :)
