Anyone else's child have only the back teeth touching?

My own front teeth do not touch. My jaw is set way back. I had a
lung specialist tell me this last winter that if I was younger, he
would recommend having my jaw broken and repositioned because it
would be easier for me to breathe. I had not ever thought of that as
a result. My back teeth do touch, and I can chew food, but I am
aware of where to put the food in my mouth in order to chew. I can
also up a finger between my front teeth without worrying about a
bite. I find it really hard to bite an apple or an ear of corn, too.
Cheryl has quite a small mouth, too. When she was little, she had
teeth coming in in front of her baby teeth and a few coming in
sideways. When she was in 8th grade, she got braces, but not before
having some of her teeth removed. Her teeth look great now (except
for the color which the doctors say is due to the trisomy). I wish
she could get them whitened professionally. There has to be a way to
do that. She is still wearing a retainer, and she is almost 36. I
don't think that she ever thinks about it, or at least doesn't dwell
on it, which is good. None of us needs more to fret over.
