I am also dealing with insurance issues. My insurance payment is higher than
my house payment and the RX stuff has doubled in the past two months. What
used to be $5 and$10 is now $15 or $25-$30. It is killing me. Dom is straight
medicaid, and it has worked really well. But he has been with all the same docs
since he was a baby and even though several of them do not take new medicaid,
they keep him on. The problem is transitioning into adult health care systems.
It is more difficult to get some of the adult specialists to take medicaid and
they really have no clue about what they are seeing re; Tri 18 stuff and the
mental health stuff together. I do not know how good medicaid will be for him
as an adult. Ali has always been on my insurance through my deceased husband
and I have ontinue to pay for it through COBRA and since that ran out I have
been able to continue with company plan at COBRA rate. She has also had a
medicaid back-up through the adoption assistance program. We could have done
same
with Dom but chose not to because he had the likely-hood of needing
catastrophic
medical funding and we figured the state of CA had deeper pockets than the
Welch family. Now the problem is that Ali is eligible for Medicare. Now what in
the heck does that mean? I have talked to five or six different people and am
now waiting to meet with some guy at a senior citizen center regarding
Medicare and back-up insurance. Is there ever a time when this stuff gets easy?
