[tri-med] Mark Csontos

Hi,

A few weeks ago, I told you that Mark would be having
CT scan, PIC line, PIC line (special IV) for
antibiotics, and ear tube placement on 26 Feb 2002.
We had been concerned about the sinus surgery, as it
is a pretty big surgery and might have kept him in ICU
for several days and then in a regular room for 2
weeks or more.

The plan was to administer general anesthesia, then to
place the PIC line in Radiology and do the CT Scan.
Then move Mark to the Operating Room for the sinus and
ear surgeries. The CT Scan and PIC line were
scheduled for 7:30AM, and the surgeries were scheduled
for 11:30AM. It turned out that Anesthesiology must
have assumed there was some mistake in the orders, and
had no one available to do the anesthesia for the CT
scan. Finally, we had this worked out, and Mark got
his anesthesia and CT scan at noon -- 4 1/2 hours
late! Meanwhile, we were trying to keep Mark
entertained, and Mark's doctor was having the nurses
call the other kids' parents who were scheduled after
Mark to see if they could come in early.

Finally, when both Anesthesiology and Radiology were
ready, the ENT followed Mark through the process. He
came back to us half an hour later with the CT scan of
Mark's sinuses. He told us Someone must be watching
out for us, as Mark's scans were clear! The doc was
so surprised that he had the staff make sure that the
prints were really Mark's! He said Mark's sinuses
never looked better.

He still put the tubes in Mark's ears and did a
thorough nasal examination while Mark was under, but
everything looked great.

Instead of a possible 3-week hospital stay, Mark got
to go home at about 4PM the same day!

God does answer prayers. Sometimes even better than
we know to ask or think.

Best regards,
Glenn Csontos
