[tri-med] Low Blood Sugar - conversion

I found the conversion of Aus blood sugar levels (bsl) to US and vice versa
To convert mmol/l of glucose to mg/dl, multiply by 18.
To convert mg/dl of glucose to mmol/l, divide by 18 or multiply by 0.055.
So by my calculations his BSL whilst on continuous feeds seems fine for an
infant (3.0 to 3.6), they are certainly better than Alex's at that age and at
the time I was told that Alex's hypoglycemia had resolved. (Alex's BSL as a
neonate ranged from 1.6 to 2.4 or in US figures 25.2 to 43.2)
I also found the original notes the pediatrician gave me about hypoglycemia in
infants, possible causes, treatments etc. It includes all the tests that should
be run to determine the cause - all are blood tests so I remain confused as to
what is so horrid about the investigations.
I am literally falling asleep at the moment - its been a VERY bad week here
(Alex is fine, other problems) but I promise that I will transcribe the
information for you tomorrow and post it to the list.
Karen - mum to Alex.
