I just wanted to update everyone on Devon from yesterday?s post. The doctor
called me back and told me that if he vomited any more, we were to bring him
in the office this morning and that they would probably order blood work. He
said with Devon?s history?especially his most recent medical history?that
they didn?t want to miss anything! He said if it was pancreatitis again it
would most likely mean he would need to be hospitalized?not just put on
clear liquid diet like I thought?he said the pancreas needs to be at
complete rest?so he would need to be on IV fluids for a few days. So?we held
our collective breath and waited. Devon held down the 2 oz of Propel we gave
him about every 30 minutes since he vomited at 1:20PM yesterday and when he
fell asleep around 5:30 PM without eating?we just let him sleep. The doctor
said that was fine?although we knew it was.
I turned the audio up on his monitor and checked him on the video monitor
during the night and then this AM when I got up to use the bathroom I went
in?held my breath?and checked him and changed him. His clothes were dry and
NOT covered in vomit like the morning before. I heaved a sigh of relief and
went back to bed for a ½ hour. He?s kind of whiney today?but he?s held
everything down and although he?s definitely not 100%...he acts like he
feels a little better.
