<<Now, Miss Philina, it's time for you to add to the Christmas
joy. May you stay straight on the road to recovery!!
I second this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With all my heart and soul!>>
Ceci, Holly & all,
No miracle yet, but some more progress. The ENT team took
her into the day surg unit for a look see and poke around.
Yep those are still real funky sinuses and nasal canals that
girl has on her, (not to mention her ear canals, facial nerves,
jaws, teeth, ad nauseum. Bottom line is when they'd pulled
that first ventilation tube out, all that nasty thick pasty
mucous she always has hanging around in her nose and sinuses
oozed on down and was cutting in on her breathing ability.
And with her the better part of knocked out, she just couldn't
handle it. (No Coca Cola residue to cut the uck either, the
girl is in caffeine withdrawal too, I'm sure.) They suctioned
out all the nooks & crannies, sent a specimen to the lab just
to make sure there's nothin' there needing an antibiotic, and
are now awaiting those results, while seeing if she's going to
fill back up. DUH....
Meanwhile the Cardiology team & ICU staff are tinkering with her
meds to slowly decrease what, and how much of them she's getting.
They've found a blood pressure stabilizer one that actually
seems to work on her, stayed below 160 systolic even while they
were suctioning. (Top noted blood pressure was 260/180 on the
previous med, when they tried to reinsert the ng tube in the ICU.
Her ENT's put it in for them when they had her on the scope.)
Best all around quote to date is from her pediatric cardiac surgeon,
"Isn't it wonderful that she now has a heart that can with stand
that kind of pressure!" Not that they were intentionally trying for
such rigorous quality control tests, but he's right, her old model
never would have made the grade. Runner up quote is from our favorite
ICU nurse, "Maybe we should just hang up a 2 liter bottle, and give
her coke drip." She even managed a straight face....
No full fledged rainbow yet, but the sun is startin' to break through,
so it shouldn't be too much longer. And she will have "done slept right
through" all this painful, nasty recuperation phase :0) Those of you who
have actually met Miss P, can fully appreciate that last comment.
Fawna
P.S. I've picked up most of her clutter and put it away, but her "coyote
alarm" tambourines are still hangin' on the front door knob.....
