We used a CD player & headphones with Mari on the plane to & fro SLC this year. 
 I had never used these on her, but decided to since the other kids were all 
packing their MP3 players. :0)

She really liked it.  It took her a while to stop "looking around" for the the 
head phones to see where the music was coming from tho!

And it did keep her quiet on the plane.
