[tri-med] Re: LVN nursing questions...

I don't know how it works in California, but in Idaho, the money from the
state (to pay the nurse) has to routed through an agency. We were looking
at having my sister take care of her under the PCS (personal care services)
program instead of nursing because she didn't need a lot of medical care,
just general care and therapy (and my sister isn't a nurse). We were
working with an agency who couldn't find a pcs worker for us, so they said
that if my sister filled out an application and became affiliated with them,
she could work just for us and be paid by the state through them. I imagine
a nurse could do the same thing. I would imagine that the agency would only
pay going rate, so they could pay for paper work. But that is under the
Idaho medicaid system, so I don't know how it would work for you.
As for now, we don't use any nursing, pcs, or respite. Of course I don't
work out of the home, and if we need a break Elanor's former teachers love
to come babysit for the whole circus (as we call our family), so it really
isn't an issue at this time. I hope you can find the answers you need and
get the right care for Natalia!

Jennifer, mom to Arwen, 7; Elanor (t18), 5; caregiver to Joe (cerebral palsy
& spastic displaysia), 25 & Eric, 18; and wife to Andrew
