Loren,
I will send a copy of your email onto John Carey and see what he says.

Personally I don't think its necessarily related to the Zantac. Children
with T-18 are generally at higher risk from blastomas - most common are
those in the kidney (Wilm's Tumour) and then next on the frequency list are
Heptoblastomas. (liver tumours). Its genetic and not related to anything
else that they take. The risk from blastomas is high enough that children
with T-18 are advised to have routine abdominal ultrasounds every six to 12
months to try and catch any of these tumours developing early. They are
aggressive cancers but if caught early have a good chance of cure.

Alex was on Zantac as a baby with no ill effect - other than it didn't seem
to help.

"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history
is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the
lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny
ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of
energy and daring those ripples build a current which can weep down the
mightiest walls of oppression and injustice."
