Alex did the same thing - I called it his "wake up time". Before then our
expectations were so so low. He didn't pay attention to the world and didn't
seem motivated to do anything or to interact on any real level. But then one
day he just seemed to start paying attention and started interacting. His
eyes always said "I am here" but after that "point" it was like "hello - oh
you are there too". Your right - its hard to explain but I know what you
mean.
