I have run into a little of the natural or vegan opinion about Elanor's
diet too. I think a lot of people don't understand that we have so few
choices when dealing with the care and nutrition of our kids it's hard
to do everything just right, especially when they don't eat orally. And
when we do find some alternatives, insurance and Medicaid (don't get me
started about Medicaid!) doesn't cover it. My philosophy is to do the
best we can with what we are given, pray for improvements, and thank God
for accomplishments and progress!
It's great when we can communicate like this, so that when one person &
their drs find a great new treatment or product we can all lobby our drs
and maybe add another "acceptable" item to their lists! So if anyone
gets anywhere with whey formula, let us know!
Jennifer, mom to Elanor-3 1/2, full T18; and Arwen-5 1/2; caregiver to
Joe-25 cerebral palsy & spastic dysplasia; wife to Andrew-32 and
wonderful!

P.S.-- Michelle, hooray for you (and for Faren)! When we started Elanor
in school, it made such a difference in how alert she was and in her
interaction. I have also been able to relax a bit more and actually
have some time for me!

Thank you for explaining the difference between whey
based and cassin based formulas, Susan. I think fAren
is fine with pediasure. Rick just doesn't like the
chemicals in it. But that's only cause he was
speaking with his vegan sister and brother in law and
every time they have something to say about a food
item, apparantly rick thinks it's always the truth and
that, for example, pediasure is bad. Who knows.
