First of all, thanks so much to everyone for your prayers and thoughts -
they are appreciated. We are taking things hourly and minutely at
times, and as others have said, this is truly a rollercoaster. Jeremiah
has some jaundice and so Friday night we put him in a special
phototherapy jaundice blanket, but took him out again yesterday evening
because it meant he was stuck upstairs away from family, etc.
Furthermore, it meant that we couldn't snuggle him during the night,
which is what we most wanted to do. His colour is a combination of
yellow and dusky at the moment - we really don't know what is going on
or how long we have with him, and that is the absolute hardest part of
all of this. We have been able to do a few of the things that were
absolutely top on my priority list, though - we've been able to hold him
alive, bring him home, take him for a walk with his sister in their
double stroller, have pictures of him being held by all four
grandparents, his sister, his parents and one of his uncles, we've done
a family photograph outside our house on a beautiful sunny day, and have
done several really nice photos of him on his own and with us. We were
also able to dedicate him at church this morning, which was really
special for us.
On top of everything else, I had been pumping breastmilk for Jeremiah
until yesterday, but I have gotten a bad case on mastitis and simply
cannot cope with being sick myself along with everything else, so we
have had to switch to formula, and I am slowly getting over quite a bad
fever and engorgement.
We are both tired, we are both run-down, and this is very hard. I am so
thankful for the time we have with Jeremiah, but when he struggles with
his breathing I am so torn.
Thanks for thinking of us and praying for us - it is appreciated!
