Hi all, my name is Jessica and my daughter's name is Alyssa. She is 15 months
and has t-18. She has several heart conditions, is fed by a g-tube, but is
one of the happiest babies I know. The reason I am finally writing is because
I need some help. Alyssa has had several UTI's lately and they just diagnosed
her with a neurogenic bladder (she never fully empties her bladder). I was
wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. The urologist and
cardiologist have talked and the only real option that they say we have is
for them to create a vesicostomy. In lame mans terms they want to make a hole
in her bladder up to her skin so her bladder will constantly empty into her
diaper through this whole. We just found out yesterday and the surgery is set
for the 14th of Aug. I am just wondering if anyone knows anything that I need
to be aware of. Well, Thanks in advance.
Love and prayers,
Jessica
