[tri-med] Re: IEP

Yes, one of Bec's pet peeves is doctors and nurses who can go through an
entire appointment and not address one word to her! And this has nothing to
do with her speech difficulties. I try little things like placing myself
behind Bec, so that they at least have to look through her to me but
sometimes nothing works. GRRRRH! They also refer to Bec as her and she. Much
better if they talk directly to Bec, whether she understands or not, then if
I know that she is able to respond I will help her do that and if she
doesn't then I will speak up.
Hope things settle down with Mark. The new school idea sounds great. Did I
ever mention that through all of the difficulties I've dealt with Bec that
it was actually one of her big sisters that was the scariest to raise, one
of the normal ones :-).

Oh Catherine I can really relate to that.  I know at work even when talking
to a patient who cant speak English very well I try and always speak to the
patient not the family member who will translate for her.
