We had a foster child in 1977 was a five year old who weighed less than 20
pounds and wore 12-18 month size clothes. He was very active, walked and talked
and if he had remained with us, I would have started him in a regular
kindergarten. He drank water all the time and peed all the time. We took him to
the
Universidty Hospital and they discovered he had diabetes incipitus. His
biological mother had kept him alive and healthy with no medications. His long
term
prognosis was unknown, since they tried experimental medications for him and
and
they were not effective. His mother took him back to Mexico and we never
heard from her again.
