I don't know about Michelle, but I got cellulitis on my elbow from a red
back spider bite years ago now. Its painful and nastily hot but cleared up
fairly quickly with antibiotics. As Penny said the spider didn't wash his
fangs and with poor circulation to the bite area due to the effect of the
venom my body couldn't fight the infection.
I haven't seen it a lot in children but cellulitis is fairly common in obese
people and those with diabetes. I always thought that it was more common in
that population due to poor circulation rather than poor immune function. In
which case I can see ears being a problem because they don't have great
circulation anyway (compared to other body parts), I could be wrong though.

Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well.
