It is now tuesday and i just got Hayden home form the
hospital last night. He went in last thursday after seeing
his ped. He was vomiting all night wednesday and half the
day thursday and developed a bad cough and runny nose and
was coughing so hard that he had blood running from his
nose and trach. They thought that he had aspirate pnuemonia
but his chest x-ray was clear of that, which i am thankful
for. He did however have some tightening in his lungs from
all the coughing, i must have suctioned him a hundred times
an hour not to mention cleaning up 15 vomiting episodes. He
was treated with aerosols and antibiotics and preelone and
extra oxygen. He is doing much better now. While we were
there we had a cholasia scan done him to see if he had a
reflux problem and indeed he does hve a mild reflux problem
and on top of that they found that he has a very slow
digestive tract. His food does not digest as fast as it
should. So we have to consult with a gastro doc to talk
about putting him on reglan to speed up with his digestion.
I guess they feel that speeding up is digestion should also
help with the reflux because his formula is staying in his
stomach too long. this all developed when he put him on the
new formula.If that doestn work we will pursue other
options but for now we will give it a try. One thing at a
time. I am glad to have found this problem and to have my
suspicions confirmed, now we may have a solution. Wish us
