THANK YOU GOD! Hannah was a trooper and did great. She is breathing
wonderfully! So quiet. Donn just talked to her night nurse (we left the
hospital before shift change) and she said that Hannah is awake and alert
and looking around. She isn't agitated at all. And, best of all, when they
went to go do the "normal" suctioning they would do based on time, they
didn't need to! She didn't need it!!! When we saw her after she got to the
PICU she was running 100% on her O2 and was only getting a bit of humidified
28% O2 (room air is 21%) blown to the trach. And respiratory said that she
didn't really need that, it was just a standard thing she did after surgery
and that was the lowest setting. It was so good to see her so quiet and
peaceful, not retracting anymore. AND NO FEVER! Her temp is actually normal
(97.6) for the first time in weeks!
Donn, Zach and I will be heading to the hospital in the morning. We meet
with "the trach lady" at 9 am to learn what to do for her. They are blocking
her old room so we didn't have to move all our stuff out. That means, unless
they fill up (which they doubt) that Donn will be able to go down there an
work in her "old" room while I stay up in the PICU with her. If they do fill
up then we will have to move her/our things.
Thank you for your caring! We really, REALLY appreciate it!!!
Janet and Donn
