We too did some of our own baby food using the food processor. These days
you can find organic fruits and veggies much more readily than back when I
was doing it. :-)
(remember Alex was an oral eater but not efficient or doing terribly well
with it)
Alex was also a very nutritionally sound eater. He didn't care much for
eating and had few preferences so ate what was presented. We didn't ever
have food battles with him. :0)
A great way to store what you prepare is to use ice cube trays. Fill with
the food you've prepared ( cooked meat, vegg, fruits like apple sauce etc)
and freeze. Then pop them out and place in labeled plastic bags and store in
the freezer. It's easy to pull out what you want and be able to alter your
amounts depending on the meal/appetite and you don't have to open a whole
jar and lost a lot of it if it's not eaten.
It's easy to do this with left overs from your dinner that are already
cooked and you just have to puree and store it.
Must confess I didn't do much in the meat preparation for Alex. He didn't
care much for it and even pureed meat gave him grief to eat until he was
approx. 4 yrs old. We did more dairy and legume proteins. Also peanut butter
(which he wasn't crazy about) until we discovered he's allergic to peanuts.
