Hannah's had a couple holding it in place at first. We were told it was so
it wouldn't spin so much as that helped the hole heal. It also couldn't be
knocked around as much. But the inner tube was long enough so that it didn't
have to be pushed back in constantly (actually, at all!) I would wonder if
your's was measured correctly and is long enough. BTW, the term "button"
refers to the part above the skin. The part with the flap and plug?
We use IV sponges around Hannah's button too. IV sponges are what they are
called at med supply places but they are also called split gauze as they are
gauze squares (2x2 or 4x4) that have a cut out in the middle to fit around
the button/tube and a cut up to that middle spot. Slides around the button
just like Jocelyn described. We tend to put just a tiny piece of silk tape
on the split to hold the two sides together to help it stay in place.
Definitely helps keep the area drier.
If you want to send me your address off-list I'll mail you some right away.
I bought some from someone who wasn't using them anymore so I can spare
some. :)))
