Subject: Nicholas Update 4/28


  a.. Nicholas is more alert and aware of his surroundings! 
  b.. We think Nicholas broke a rib when CPR was administered on Sunday night.  
The doctor heard a pop.  Normal chest X-rays do not show a break but the way 
he's acting were sure he has a broken rib. 
  c.. Nick is on Lortab for pain. 
  d.. When Nick is turned it's obvious he is in pain.  His vitals are returning 
to normal sooner, 4/28 compared to 4/27. 
  e.. Nick is on oxygen at 40%/15L through a nasal cannula 
  f.. TPN and Lasix have been stopped 
  g.. The plan is to move Nick out of the ICU tomorrow to intermediate Peds. 
  h.. Unfortunately Nick has acquired a staph infection.  (MRSA, Colonized 
isolated sputum)
Overall Nick is slowly improving.  We think this wll take some time but we are 
VERY pleased with his progress.  

Tonight we spoke with the nurse that administered CPR on Sunday night.  She was 
excited to see Nick doing so well.  

Dr. Carey, we are very pleased with Dr. Ross!
