Karen,
I am aware of 8 cases of trisomy 18 with hepatoblastoma ( 2 were mosaic)-
the age range was 4 mos to 3 yrs ( take a peak at my professional newletter
that came out about a year ago- it is on www trisomy.org) . I am not aware
of Zantac causing "benign liver tumors" -I would have to look that up. The
possibilty of some predisposition in trisomy 18 is so mind bogling that I
would like to ask my liver cancer experts whether there is any theoretical
reason why Zantac could cause hepatoblastoma in a child who may be at risk,
i.e. having trisomy 18. I'll check the published reports ( they are in my
briefcase at my othe office) to see if any kids were on Zantac -of note 3 of
the cases are Japanese.
