I agree with Loren who said you should do both, esp. if that is what the
doc's are recommending. Our story is a bit different.  Rebecca had her
first g-tube placed at 15 months of age, at the time the Nissan was
being suggested but I refused, mostly on the influence of a friend and
also due to the fact that I hoped that not shoving an NG tube down 4
times a day would help with the reflux.........well it didn't and by the
time I was desperate for the Nissan when she was 5 I had to convince the
doc's that she needed it. ( she was still gaining weight and was not
overly sick with aspiration pnmonias because I was so aware of when she
aspirated that I would start her on her ventolin and beclovent and it
would really help her chest, also we were doing chest physio every time
she aspirated)  any way the Nissan was the best thing we did, even the
post op complications which for her were a collapsed lung.  ( that
surgery was done in the traditional open method) right now we are faced
with doing the Nissan again but by laparoscopic method this time.  We
are just waiting for the gastric empting study and the surgical consult.
