View the creation of 5 giant masterpieces in chalk from a camera mounted 120
feet overhead (still frame below). Time-lapse footage (about 2 minutes in)
shows the final creation. At the end, slightly wind-blurred images are
shown.

ABOUT THE EVENT

 

On October 21st , 2008 over 350 students dedicated Foundations Academy's
freshly poured foundation slab by recreating 5 huge art masterpieces with
artists chalk. All reproductions, ranging from 20x15 feet to 20x30 feet,
were created in under 4 hours for a time-laps video. Paintings include: The
Mona Lisa (Da Vinci), George Washington (unfinishedStuart), American Gothic
(Grant Wood), A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (Seurat),
and Starry Night (Van Gough). Each student in grades k-12 was involved and
all works were created entirely by the students.

 

The event was directed by local artist Karen Woods and teacher Lori Richter.
Sidewayz Films (www.Sidewayz.com <about:www.Sidewayz.com%20> ) created
the
approximately 4 minute video for You-Tube. Idaho Airships
(www.idahoairships.com <http://www.idahoairships.com/> ) provided the
aircraft photography.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

On September 8th , Foundations Academy broke ground on a new 32,000 square
foot facility at the corner of Chinden and Locust Grove in Meridian, Idaho.
The building is scheduled to be complete in August of 2009. The Academy is
an accredited, non-profit k-12 classical Christian school founded in 1995,
presently serving about 350 students. The school is known in the community
for its academic excellence and serves the community with a well-rounded,
balanced, and challenging education in science, math, literature,
philosophy, language, theology, and the arts with a Christian worldview.
