No - pleural effusion is not a collapsed lung, but it can cause the lung to 
collapse. Technically a collapsed lung is when air enters the pleural space 
and the lung collapses. But if there is enough fluid around the lung it can 
exert enough pressure to cause the lung to "collapse" as well. It doesn't 
always happen - but it can......
