[tri-med] Re: Fear of Mails...Karen

>>I said, honestly, that I didn't
understand why I couldn't (even thinking about opening a letter, bank
statement or even the TV guide would bring on a panic attack). Some days =
I
was OK, but others, no way. It was getting majorly embarassing. =
(especially
with unpaid bills!!)>>

OK, I have been out of town and still have 158 emails to go but I =
dropped
everything when I saw this post. I thought I was the only =
one?!?!?!?!?!? I
have two recurring nightmares that pop up during stressful times and by =
FAR
the worst one is about mail! I am always walking towards the mailroom =
of my
sorority house (where I lived in college) and I am telling you that I
routinely wake up in a cold sweat by the time I get to my mail cubby. I =
had
the same issues about the answering machine too- like the bottom of my
stomach would drop out when I saw I had a message. Honestly, if you say
"Doom" to me, my free association is going to be an envelope with my =
name on
it or a blinking red light. =20

Sorry, this is probably more of a family list post but I was pretty =
thrilled
to have the free psych consult. Thanks! FYI, Karen, I am now =
compulsive
about getting and opening the mail, I have to do it as soon as I get =
home
from work NO MATTER WHAT, same with the messages. If we've been out of =
town
for a few days, I can't relax until I have checked the mail. I guess =
I've
progressed to a point where it's worse to have the bad news sitting in a
pile somewhere waiting to jump out at me. Lol. =20

Now if someone can explain to me why I keep dreaming about losing my =
teeth,
I'll be ready to declare myself sane!=20
