[tri-med] "Evidence based medine" -congressional contact list

I hope many parents listened to the words uttered by our president last night
and his plans for how to determine who gets medical care and what kind of care
they will receive. The part that should worry all parents of rare special
needs kids is when the President said "medical decisions will be based on
EVIDENCE based medicine" he said those very words- that means that our kids
get nothing but palliative care b/c as we all KNOW from our doctors across this
great nation, the "evidence" is that our kiddo's are "incompatible with life"
and will die anyway ....sends shivers down my spine. This is not new in
socialized medicine rather it is the "norm."

Not that it matters much but I am a practicing attorney and I do have some
insights into where this is headed. The words used by our leaders do have
legal meaning to us.

Think about all the services you get for your kid now from regional centers
etc. (speech, OT, PT, respite etc.) That will likely be taken away as care is
rationed for kids where the EVIDENCE is that they will live and might even
thrive. Have any of your kids received any surgeries so far in their lives?
Think about it. Are you ready to let a bureaucrat dictate IF your child can
ever have another necessary surgery?

When something IS done to help fix our health care we better stand up and have
a voice. It is obvious that we do NOT have such a voice at present.

We have to fight for our kids and get involved. Please call your
representatives and these other important people in DC who can stop this
unnecessary "rush" to socialize health care that -at present- will be bad for
our kids. We need to be considered and counted before drastic changes are made
that will forever effect our wonderful and valuable children.
