you have to be willing to listen to/receive the group/person's religious
doctrine/thoughts/beliefs as well.
I find this discussion interesting. Not sure of what side of the fence I am
on.
I do know that my dh and I are Catholic. We have gone though an adoption
with the state of CT.
We are now considering another adoption but our homestudy has expired. For
a variety of reasons we prefer to have a private agency update the study,
rather than the state.
A social worker from Jewish Family Services came highly recommended. We are
using them rather than Catholic Charities or any other agency simply because
of the organization and the timely fashion in which they supposedly can do
the job I need.
Since their beliefs do not go against my "moral meter" it doesn't concern me
that they are a Jewish based organization.
When I was in the hospital with Michael (during one of his emergency visits)
the man I found was most comforting was a Jewish Rabbi who was a minister at
the hospital. Now, since we both have a belief system of one God etc. we
did have some common background to work with in our discussions.
Anyway I am not sure what my point is with all this but I did find it
interesting that while in both cases I could have used someone"Catholic" for
support , I chose someone Jewish.
