[tri-med] Re: Elanor update--pain?

(((Elanor))), poor thing! I know what this is like as Becca went through
months of pain before testing showed gallstones. But even constipation and
kidney stones could be doing it. Oh I do hope you figure it out soon. Is she
on stool softeners?

Subject: [tri-med] Elanor update--pain?

I've been lurking lately, very busy! But I have a question for anyone who
has any ideas.

Elanor has been in quite a bit of pain recently. We took her to the dr.
yesterday, but she just seemed to having discomfort, not actual pain while
we were there. She has a very slight fever, which may be due to pain, and
may have a mild respiratory infection. We started antibiotics yesterday,
and we thought maybe she was constipated since she didn't have a bm Monday.
We gave her glycerin suppositories on Tuesday, and she had a pretty firm bm.
It seemed to make her feel a little better, but then she went back into
crying and grimacing. After going to the dr. yesterday, she seemed to be
even more unhappy. She cries when she is awake, and her heartrate goes way
up. We have been having to give her hydrocodone to calm her down, and she
seems to be slightly more comfortable and able to sleep after it kicks in.
I am at a loss. Her rods seem to be in place, she has no sign of infection
where the incisions are healing, her stomach is firm, but not distended (the
firmness may be because of pain--she is really tense). She doesn't seem to
have any localized pain that we can determine. Any ideas? I do wonder if
it is due to her g-tube. When a kid outgrows their g-tube and needs a
longer size, does it cause them pain? She has grown quite a bit taller and
a little broader since November when she got her rods in, so she might need
a larger size.
